Hardware Module 2-1 & 2

I was excited to browse through EnableMart. I recognize some of the products on the site because I have found them in catalogs and on other websites when shopping for my daughter. If I were choosing useful items for school or workplace, I would first need to know what type of accommodations were needed. For a student with visual difficulties, a video magnifier would be important for students using computers. The scanner/reader device and a recorder/reader device would also work well for blind or low vision students. Braille labels for keys on a regular computer keyboard were available for purchase and would be an inexpensive way to easily adapt existing equipment. For hearing impaired students, important items include an amplifier system and a portable TTY unit like the Krown 200 TTY because it is lightweight and portable. For students with communication difficulties, the electronic picture communicators like the GoTalk series would be a good investment. In the classroom, students who have verbal difficulties would be able to use the GoTalk devices to answer questions and indicate needs. The GoTalk series includes 1, 4, 9 and 20+ button devices that can grow with a child. The Magic Touch screen for a computer monitor is another easy to use adaptation for students who have difficulty manipulating a mouse.
