Week 7, Part 1 Sandbox "Wiki" (#17)

I'm trying to enter the "Sandbox" (Classroomlearning 2.0) to edit, but a classmate is already editing. There is a link that says "Steal Lock". I'm not sure what that means, but I don't want to bump out a classmate. I have been reading through what others have posted. I like Louie's M&M avatar.

I looked around at other pages on the wiki and saw a sign generated from http://www.imagechef.com/ I decided to check it out to see if there is anything I want to make. I made a panic button for myself. Every time I feel panic about school, I can look at this and laugh!
I'm eventually going to add to the "Sandbox". I can't get into Blackboard either because it is down for maintenance. I read someone's entry about a Webquest. I don't recall this assignment, but I better look into it.
As far as using a wiki for classroom purposes, I found a great idea from someone else. A wiki can be used in an English or any class with a writing assignment. The wiki can be used for peer help or critique. At the school where I work, there is a writing center that has student tutors. Any student that needs help can sign up for the writing center to get help. I think a wiki would be a great tool for the writing center especially for the student and tutor to communicate after their first meeting. I don't work with any students that tutor or have used the writing center for help, but I know the teacher that supervises the group. I think I will suggest the idea to the teacher since the center is only open two days a week after school for an hour.

  1. I like your idea about using a Wiki for a writing center. Peer editing is a great way for students to apply what they have learned about writing. Teacher supervision would be key so that students are getting correct information.
